Men's Hockey Looks to Extend Winning Streak at Nazareth Tonight

Elmira, NY  -- The Elmira College Men's Ice Hockey team hits the road to take on Nazareth College tonight at 7:00 p.m. Below is everything you will need to get ready for tonight's ECAC West contest.

Last Time Out: The Soaring Eagles swept Morrisville 8-5 and 9-4 in an away-home series last weekend.  
 
Where We Sit: EC is currently 7-9 overall and 2-4 in ECAC West play. Elmira sits tied for fourth place in the conference standings with Neumann.

Who's Hot: Classmates Michael Collins'16 and Greg Whittle '16 earned ECAC West Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for their efforts against Morrisville.

Collins had an outstanding week for the Soaring Eagles registering six points in the form of three goals and three assists against Morrisville State College. On Friday, he recorded one assist on the game tying goal and later recorded the game winning goal to help the team prevail 8-5. On Saturday, he registered two assists to help EC earn a 3-1 and a 5-1 lead. In the third period he recorded two goals late in the third period to swing momentum back to EC after the Mustangs narrowed down the lead to 6-4.

Collins
Whittle also had a phenomenal weekend for EC recording five points in the form of two goals and three assists against Morrisville State College. On Friday, he recorded the game tying goal in the final period at the11:22 mark of the third period. In addition he recorded two assists later in the same period to help give EC a 6-4 and 8-5 lead. On Saturday, he recorded one goal during the second period to give EC a 5-1 lead and later registered one assist on the last goal of the game.
 
Scouting Nazareth: The Golden Flyers are in their first year as a hockey program, and this season also marks their first in the ECAC West. They currently trail EC in the conference standings with an 0-5 mark, while carrying an overall record of 5-9-1.
 
Looking Ahead: Elmira returns to the Murray Athletic Center Friday night to host No. 8 Utica College at 7:00 p.m.
