Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College Women's Basketball team hits the road to take on Empire 8 conference foe Alfred University tonight at 6:00 p.m. Below is all the information you will need to get ready for tonight's contest.
Last Time Out: The Soaring Eagles fell in heartbreaking fashion, 60-59, to Maine Maritime in the consolation game of the Key Largo Classic on December 31st.
Where We Sit: EC is currently 4-7 overall and 0-2 in the Empire 8 with both of its conference losses coming on the road and falling in overtime to St. John Fisher. With a win tonight Elmira can make its way up the conference standings.
Who's Hot: Jessica Zoltowski '14 currently ranks in the top 50 in the country in scoring pumping in 18.2 points per contest, good for first in the Empire 8 Conference. Zoltowski also ranks fifth in the conference hauling in 8.3 rebounds per game. The standout junior has four double-doubles so far this season and has scored at least 12 points in every contest.
Scouting Alfred: Alfred enters tonight's contest an equal 4-7 overall, but 0-3 in conference play after dropping back-to-back games last weekend at Ithaca and Utica. Harley Cleary was on fire in the loss at Utica as she pumped in 23 points shooting 8-for-16 from the field, 3-for-9 from three point range and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. Cleary was also the only Saxon scorer in double figures against the Bombers finishing with 10 points.
Looking Ahead: The Soaring Eagles will host Nazareth College at 8:00 p.m. on Friday in Speidel Gymnasium, before traveling to Houghton on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. tip.
