Field Hockey Defeated By Neumann University 4-1

The Elmira College field hockey team (3-8, 1-4 E8) fell 4-1 to Neumann University (6-8, 2-0 CSAC) today in a non-conference match-up.  Lauren Thomas '14 stopped 11 shots while Alli Gilbert '16 scored a goal in today's contest.
 
Neumann got on the board first after Jess Harrell '17 slipped the ball past Thomas 11 minutes into the game. The Soaring Eagles responded with a goal of their own just two minutes later when McKenna Light '14 passed the ball across the circle to Gilbert who put the ball in the back of the cage to tie the game at one apiece. Three minutes later the Knights put up another goal after Alexa McIntyre '16 found the ball off a rebound and placed it past Thomas to put the Knights into the lead. The Purple and Gold trailed by just one goal going into halftime. In the second half Neumann scored two more times to increase the lead to 4-1.
 
The Soaring Eagles will host Utica College this Saturday, October 19th in an Empire 8 Conference game at 1:00 p.m.
