Brockport, NY -- The Elmira College men's ice hockey team (2-3) scored two third period goals but it proved to be too little too late as the Soaring Eagles fell on the road to the Golden Eagles of the College of Brockport (2-3), 5-2. Elmira allowed three first period goals, which ultimately was the determining factor in today's loss.
The Golden Eagles scored the game's first four goals to take a 4-0 lead after two periods of play. Three of Brockport's goals came in the first period as they outshot the Soaring Eagles 10-to-3 in the period and would go on to outshoot Elmira 14-to-13 in the second period.
Elmira had four power play opportunities through the first two periods of play but was unable to convert on any of their chances.
However, 57 seconds into the third period, Elmira broke through with their first goal of the game as
Jarryd ten Vaanholt '16 scored a man-up goal.
Josh Burnell '15 assisted on Vaanholt's third goal of the season.
Then, almost seven minutes later,
Greg Whittle '16 cut the Brockport lead to two as he scored his second goal of the year. Classmate
Max Balaban '16 picked up an assist on Elmira's second goal of the game.
With a two-goal deficit, Elmira upped the pressure by outshooting Brockport 13-to-8 in the third period. Unfortunately, the Golden Eagles would tally another score to seal the 5-2 win.

Sal Magliocco '17 was credited with the loss today despite making 27 saves.
Elmira will look to bounce back tomorrow as they travel to take on number 10 nationally ranked Oswego State in a 7:00 p.m. game.
