Oneonta, NY -- The Elmira College men's soccer team (2-1) dropped a 4-0 decision on the road today against two-time defending SUNYAC champion Oneonta State Red Dragons (2-2). Elmira's
Nick Lapinski '17 recorded seven saves in today's road loss.
The Soaring Eagles had their hands full with the Red Dragons, who were ranked 24th in the nation according to the NSCAA preseason coaches poll. EC was outshot 22-to-5 but of Elmira's five shots, three made their way on frame compared to only seven for Oneonta. However, Oneonta would make the most of their opportunities as they scored three goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Elmira's defense turned things around in the second half as they held the Red Dragons to only one goal in the half. EC goalkeeper
Nick Lapinski '17 made seven saves in today's contest, the most of his young career with the Purple and Gold.
EC will have three days of rest before their next road contest against the University of Pitt-Bradford on Saturday, September 14th at 1:00 p.m.
