Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's basketball team is seeking their 10th straight victory tonight against Penn State Abington. The non-conference matchup is set to tip-off at 7:00 p.m.

Going for 10
The women's basketball team has now won nine games in a row after defeating Houghton College, 67-48 on Tuesday night. With a win against Penn State Abington, the Soaring Eagles will have their first double-digit win streak since the 2006-07 season. That season, EC put together a 13-game streak and finished the season with a 21-7 record, one of three 20-plus win seasons in Elmira College history.

Best Start Since 1993-94
After dominating Houghton College, EC pushed its record to 10-2. The 10-2 start is one win better than the 9-2 starts by both the 1996-97 and 1997-98 teams and is two wins from matching the best start in program history. The 1993-94 women's basketball team started 12-2 that season and finished with a 15-10 record.

Top-20 Scorer
After seeing her scoring average dip to 20.0 points per game on January 7th, Jessica Zoltowski '14 has averaged 27.0 points per game over her last three contests to up her season average to 21.8 points per game. The standout senior now ranks 17th in the nation in scoring average.

Nearing a Milestone
Zoltowski has 499 rebounds in her career, leaving her one rebound shy of becoming the third player in Elmira College history with 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds. She would join former standouts, Mary Kay Babcock '82 and Martha Bolduc '97.

Knocking Down the Freebies
Alex Balara '15 has been a strong free throw shooter throughout her career and this season is no different. Balara has knocked down 84.8 percent of her free throw attempts this season, ranking her second in the Empire 8 Conference and 63rd in the nation. Zoltowski and Maria Thannhauser '14 join Balara in the Empire 8's top 10, making EC the only Empire 8 team with three players in the top-10 in free throw percentage.

Locking It Down From Behind the Arc
EC's defense has been stellar all season, especially from behind the arc as the Soaring Eagles rank 16th in the country in three point defense. The Purple and Gold are not giving up many good looks from three-point range, limiting opponents to a 22.1 percent success rate from downtown.
