Alfred, NY -- The Elmira College men's soccer team could not overcome an early deficit as the Soaring Eagles fell on the road to Empire 8 Conference opponent Alfred University, 2-0.
Elmira was under pressure for most of today's game as the Saxons held a 21-to-4 advantage in shots as well as in corner kicks, 10-to-2. However, EC's defense held tough for the majority of the game, allowing just two goals on Alfred's 21 shots.
Alfred struck first in the 21st minute and added another score in the second half in the 69th minute en route to a 2-0 victory.
Jordan Dougherty '16 got the start in net tonight for the Soaring Eagles and made five saves.
The Purple and Gold will be back in action on Tuesday, October 21st when Elmira hosts Hobart College for a non-conference game. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at EC's Campus Field in Elmira, NY.
