Box Score

Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College men's lacrosse team (0-6, 0-2 E8) scored a season-high 11 goals but came up short as the Soaring Eagles fell at home to Nazareth College (4-5, 2-0 E8), 17-11.  Elmira netminder Wyatt Katsos '17 made a season-high 18 saves, the highest number of saves an EC goalie has made since last year's game against Nazareth when Dave Bucchino '13 stopped 29.

The Soaring Eagles had a plethora of man-up opportunities in today's game, scoring on 7-of-16 chances.  In the first half, Elmira was extremely efficient when playing with a man-up as the Purple and Gold scored on 5-of-7 opportunities, accounting for five of EC's six first half goals.

Leading the offensive charge for the Soaring Eagles was Myles Richards '17 and Brian Conzola '14 who tallied three goals apiece. David Evert '14 also had standout performance, not with his scoring, but with his passing ability as the fourth-year attacker dished out five assists while rookie Griffin Foley '17 finished with a career-high four points on two goals and two assists.

In the first quarter, Elmira did something that had not been accomplished all season, as EC scored the game's opening goals.  In fact, the Soaring Eagles scored the game's first two goals as brothers Brady Richards '14 and Myles Richards '17 netted back-to-back goals at the 13:02 and 10:35 mark, respectively.  Both goals came on man-up opportunities.

However, Nazareth responded with seven straight goals to take a 7-2 lead at the 13:53 mark of the second quarter.  Elmira would match Nazareth goal-for-goal to end the second quarter as the Golden Flyers took an 11-6 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, Elmira staged a comeback as the Purple and Gold outscored the Golden Flyers 3-to-1 in the opening seven minutes, cutting Nazareth's lead to 12-9.  Unfortunately for the Soaring Eagles, Nazareth would score five of the game's final seven goals as the Golden Flyers claimed a 17-11 win.

Elmira will be back in action on Wednesday, April 2nd when the Soaring Eagles travel to take on Houghton College for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
