Utica, NY -- The Elmira College women's tennis team rebounded from their first loss of the season in impressive fashion, taking down Utica College, 9-0. In addition to their third sweep of the season, the Soaring Eagles lineup conceded six games across the nine matches.
 
EC could not have asked for a more perfect start to their match as all three doubles teams rolled to 8-0 victories. First off the court was the second doubles team of Ellen Plowman'16 and Kristi Chanda'17, followed by Caitlin Dwyer'16 and Megan Boisclair'15 at third doubles. For Dwyer, the doubles victory marked the first victory of her collegiate career. Finally, Amy Schmidt'15 and Kayla Fitzgerald'15 closed out the 3-0 start with their 8-0 win at first doubles.
 
It was much of the same in singles for the Purple and Gold as they rolled through the six matches for the 9-0 victory. Plowman and Chanda were first off the court with 6-0, 6-0 wins at third and fourth singles, respectively, followed by Fitzgerald, Schmidt, and Boisclair who each surrendered one game. Finally, Stephanie Tock'16 wrapped-up EC's 9-0 win with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at fifth singles.
 
Elmira returns to the courts on Thursday, September 18th when EC travels to take on Empire 8 opponent, Houghton College. The match is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
