Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's tennis team concludes the 2015 campaign this weekend with a pair of Empire 8 Conference matches at the Murray Athletic Center Tennis Dome. Elmira faces Houghton College and Alfred University on back-to-back days, starting on Saturday, October 10th and concluding on Sunday, October 11th. Both matches are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Sunday's match against the Saxons will be Class of 2016 Recognition Day, where EC will honor is graduating seniors.

Last Time Out
Elmira is over a week removed from its last outing, one that resulted in a heartbreaking 6-3 defeat on the road to Nazareth College. The Soaring Eagles took control of the match early, winning 2-of-3 doubles matches. However, Elmira was only able to win one of the six singles matches on court, as the Golden Flyers survived a late season scare against the Purple and Gold.

Knocking on History's Door
As the 2015 women's tennis season approaches its apex, Ayaka Yoshino '16 is just one win shy of becoming the program's all-time leader in career wins. With two matches left on the schedule, Yoshino sits on career win 69, just one shy of tying the current leader, Olivia Garcia '05.

On the Cusp of Perfection
One thing has remained constant through the 2015 fall season for the Soaring Eagles, and that is Elmira's superb play on its home courts at the Murray Athletic Center Tennis Dome. Elmira enters the weekend with a 4-0 home record and if EC is able to best its Empire 8 Conference foes, the Purple and Gold will conclude the fall season with a flawless record for just the second time in 16 years. The last time Elmira concluded the fall season with a perfect home record dates back to the 2013 season, when the Soaring Eagles went 5-0.

Thanks for the Memories
This weekend not only concludes the 2015 regular season, it also marks the end of the careers for the four graduating members of the Class of 2016.
