Baseball Heads to Scranton for Nine-Inning Tilt

Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College baseball team will travel to take on the University of Scranton today, April 13th, at 3:30 p.m. in a single nine-inning game.
 
Program Firsts
Elmira is fresh off a 9-5 victory over visiting Houghton College on Saturday afternoon.  The Soaring Eagles' win over the Highlanders marked EC's first win in program history, their first Empire 8 Conference win, and their first win at Historic Dunn Field.
 
Bats Working
In Elmira's win over Houghton, the Soaring Eagles found their groove at the plate as they registered 11 hits.  Elmira saw two players with multi-hit games in Dylan Bellinger '17 and Jack Thistle '18.   Bellinger went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI while Thistle went 2-for-5 with two RBI as well.  Additionally, Brian Wehmeyer '17 also drove-in three runs.
 
Pitching Positives
Dennis Rudolph '18 put forth one of the best pitching performances by any Elmira pitcher this season in EC's 9-5 win over Houghton. Rudolph threw 8.1 strong innings, allowing 11 hits and four runs while striking out five batters en route to picking up his first collegiate win.
 
Looking Ahead
Following today's game, the Soaring Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, April 15th, when Elmira travels to take on the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at 3:30 p.m.
