EC Men's Lacrosse Assistant Coach Donny Moss Earns Spot on U.S. Indoor National Team

U.S. Lacrosse | 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship

Baltimore, MD --
Two-and-a-half weeks removed from playing in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Championship Game with the Rochester Rattlers, Elmira College assistant men's lacrosse coach Donny Moss was named to the U.S. men's indoor national team, announced Wednesday by U.S. Lacrosse.

The U.S. men's indoor national team will compete in the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Indoor Championship from September 18th-27th on the Onondaga Nation and in Syracuse, NY. The U.S. is one of 13 nations participating in the tournament.

"It's been a long, tough road for me in the box lacrosse game, but making this team has been a dream come true," Moss said. "I look forward to representing the United States and competing for a gold medal."

Moss was selected from a 31-man tryout pool following a three-day training camp held last weekend at the Westminster School in Simsbury, CT. He'll have the opportunity to suit up alongside America's best indoor lacrosse players, including former National Lacrosse League (NLL) MVP and Syracuse University All-American Casey Powell.

"Casey's a legend in the game, someone I looked up to as a young player," Moss said. "It will be great to play with him and guys like (Rochester Rattlers teammate) Joel White."

A native of Rochester, NY, Moss began his collegiate career at Herkimer County Community College, where he was named to the All-America First Team and was crowned the Region III Defensive Player of the Year. After graduating from Division II Adelphi University in 2009, he was drafted by the Long Island Lizards with the 39th overall selection in the 2009 MLL Collegiate Draft. He has helped the Rattlers reach the MLL title game each of the last two seasons. In addition, Moss represented the U.S. in the 2012 Bowhunter Cup, an indoor exhibition played against the Iroquois Nationals.

Team USA will kick-off round robin portion of the 2015 FIL World Indoor Championship against the Iroquois on Friday, September 18th at 8:30 p.m. at the War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, NY. The gold and bronze medal games will be played at the Carrier Dome on Sunday, September 27th.
