Elmira College Names Pat Sullivan ’00 as Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach; Spencer Passmore Joins as Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator

ELMIRA, N.Y. — Elmira College has announced the hiring of Pat Sullivan '00 as the new Head Coach of the Soaring Eagles men's lacrosse program. Joining Sullivan on the sidelines is Spencer Passmore, who has been named Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.

"We are thrilled to welcome back Pat Sullivan '00 and to add Spencer Passmore to our coaching staff," said Rhonda Faunce, Director of Athletics. "This coaching duo brings experience, passion, and a shared commitment to student-athlete success that will help move our program forward."

A proud Elmira College alumnus, Sullivan returns to lead the program he once competed for as a student-athlete, where he holds the single-season program record for points in a season with 75 in 2000. Following his playing career with the Purple & Gold, Sullivan (Round 7, Pick #62), along with teammate and 2024 EC Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, Jeff Franey '00 (Round 4, Pick #34), were both selected by Rochester in the 2000 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Entry Draft.

"I'm incredibly excited to begin this new role to help build up a program that is very close to my heart since I had the opportunity to play here," Sullivan said. "I'm excited for this new journey and am looking forward to the challenges ahead, along with the chance to help build a winning culture. I can't wait to get started!"

Passmore, a native of Corning, New York, brings experience as a Division I player at Hobart College under Head Coach Greg Raymond. Coached by Chris Hogue at Corning Painted-Post, Passmore was a three-year varsity letter winner, while earning The Corning Leader Player of the Year in 2014 as a senior. During his final two seasons with the Hawks, Passmore produced 125 points and was a three-year member of the Nike Upstate Rising team.

"As a Corning native, this opportunity means a lot to me," Passmore said. "Playing Division I lacrosse for Coach Raymond at Hobart taught me the importance of preparation, discipline, and attention to detail—values that shape my coaching philosophy today. I'm excited to help our student-athletes reach their full potential in the classroom, on the field, in the weight room, and beyond. This isn't just about lacrosse—it's about building young men who will lead with character and be respected in the community. I'm proud to be part of Elmira College and ready to get to work."
