Elmira, NY -- Elmira College women's tennis returns to its Empire 8 Conference schedule tomorrow, October 1st, when the Soaring Eagles travel to take on the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College in a 4:00 p.m. match.
Last Time OutElmira tallied an impressive 6-3 win in its most recent contest against visiting Oswego State. Oswego entered the day on a two-match win streak, with victories over St. John Fisher College and Fredonia State. However, the Soaring Eagles would put an end to Oswego's run in convincing fashion. Elmira won 2-of-3 doubles matches, claiming wins at the first and second spots, before sealing the match with singles victories at first, second, third, and fourth.

Yoshino Moves Closer to No. 1Ayaka Yoshino '16 was a double-winner against Oswego on Tuesday, picking up wins at first singles and first doubles. The two victories against the Lakers brings her career win total to 67. Three more wins for Yoshino will put her in a two-way tie with Olivia Garcia '05, who recorded her program record-setting 70th career win in doubles against Utica College on October 10, 2004.
All-Time SeriesEC and Nazareth are quite familiar with one another, having met 21 times since the 2000 season, including six times in the conference tournament. During that 15-year span, the Soaring Eagles have one win to their name, one that occurred last season in an 8-1 drubbing of the Golden Flyers.
Scouting the Golden FlyersNazareth College enters Thursday's contest on a two-match win streak, as the Golden Flyers tallied conference wins against Alfred University and St. John Fisher College. The wins over Alfred and Fisher boosted Nazareth's records to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in E8 play, putting the Golden Flyers in third place in the conference standings. Jean McCarthy is a player to watch for Nazareth, as she boasts the team-lead in wins with six, four coming in singles and two occurring in doubles.
Looking AheadElmira continues their conference schedule the following weekend, as the Soaring Eagles host Houghton College and Alfred University in back-to-back matches. EC takes on the Highlanders on Saturday, October 10th, at 1:00 p.m. before facing the Saxons the following day at 1:00 p.m. Both matches will take place at the Murray Athletic Center Tennis Dome.
