PINE VALLEY, N.Y. -- It was another trying afternoon for the Elmira College women's tennis team, as the Soaring Eagles dropped a 7-2 decision to the visiting Golden Flyers of Nazareth College. Elmira rookie, Tilila El Yazidi '20, was a double-winner this evening with victories at first singles and doubles.
 
El Yazidi partnered with junior netter, Megan Fitzgerald '18, for a hard-fought 8-6 win at first doubles. With the win, the duo improved to 10-2 at the top spot this year and has won three consecutive matches.
 
Then in singles play, El Yazidi knocked off Nazareth's Jean McCarthy in three sets. The freshman talent dropped the first set, 3-6, before pulling out the second frame by a single break at 6-4. With the overall match already decided, a 10-point super tiebreaker was played in place of a full third set.
 
El Yazidi rolled in the breaker, dropping just 2-of-12 points to secure a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-2) victory. With the win, El Yazidi has won five consecutive matches at the top singles position and improves to 10-2 in dual matches.
