Elmira, NY --
The Elmira College men's lacrosse team heads to Hoboken, NJ, to take on Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, April 23rd, at 3:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
Elmira was handed its third consecutive Empire 8 Conference loss at the hands of the Cardinals of St. John Fisher College, 13-7. After a tightly-contested first quarter, the visitors outscored EC by a combined 8-2 in the second and third quarters to pull ahead by a comfortable 12-4 margin. The Soaring Eagles scored three unanswered goals to start the final period of play, the first coming on the power play from Wyatt Katsos '17. Ollie Heitkamp '18 and Skyler Pradelski '16 each added goals to come within five of the Fisher lead, but the inability to cash in on a few key man-up possessions prevented EC from getting any closer. Pradelski and Nevin Olney '18 each scored twice to lead the offense for the Soaring Eagles, while TJ Leach '16 contributed two points with one goal and one helper.

USILA-HEADstrong Foundation Cancer Awareness Week
During Tuesday's matchup against St. John Fisher College at Campus Field, the Soaring Eagles wore special HEADstrong Foundation socks to raise awareness for cancer as part of the first annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)-HEADstrong Cancer Awareness Week. On Saturday at the DeBaun Athletic Complex, all proceeds collected at the gate will be donated to HEADstrong to support the organization's mission. Series History
Since the Ducks joined the Empire 8 Conference in 2008, they've had EC's number, winning all eight conference matchups. That includes an 0-4 mark for Elmira when playing on Stevens' home turf in Hoboken, NJ.

In last season's edition of the E8 rivalry, Stevens defeated Elmira 15-4. That game would go down in history, however, as goaltender Cameron Prior '17 shone brightly despite the loss. With the Ducks unleashing 77 shots and 53 shots on goal, Prior was forced to make a program-record 38 saves. He surpassed the previous record of 35 set by Tom Depape '95 on May 8, 1993, and rightfully earned the starting role between the pipes in his junior season.

Scouting Stevens
The Ducks are flying high in 2016 with a 12-3 record and a 5-1 mark inside the Empire 8. Their only conference loss came against nationally-ranked Ithaca College. Way back on March 5th, Stevens nearly upset then-No. 1 Tufts University at home, as the Ducks watched a 12-10 lead in the third quarter evaporate into a tough 14-13 loss. The potent Stevens offense, led by Andrew Scrutchfield and Matt Ferentini, has scored 20-or-more goals on six occasions already this year. Scrutchfield leads the squad with 55 points and is one shy of Ferentini's team-leading 35 goals. Not only are the Ducks lethal on the offensive side of the ball, the defense boasts the second-lowest goals-against average in the E8. Carson White has started all 15 games in goal, producing a 7.82 goals-against average, a .556 save percentage, and 125 saves.

A Look Ahead
Elmira College hosts the Bombers of Ithaca College in the Soaring Eagles' regular season home finale on Wednesday, April 27th, at 4:00 p.m. on Campus Field.
