ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's ice hockey team is set for a pair of road United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) bouts this weekend. The Soaring Eagles will challenge Stevenson University first on Friday, November 17, in Reisterstown, Maryland, before taking on Neumann University the following day at 4:00 p.m. in Aston, Pennsylvania.
WEEKEND OVERVIEW
- Elmira continues its United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) schedule this weekend with a pair of road contests against Stevenson and Neumann.
- These two weekend bouts will mark the end of the Soaring Eagles' season-long four-game road trip.
- After going a 1-1-0 over the weekend, EC is tied with Manhattanville for third place in the league standings with four conference points.
- Elmira's foes this weekend rank as the top two teams in the UCHC standing thus far, as Stevenson owns the top spot with a perfect 4-0-0 record, while Neumann is second after starting the season 2-1-1 in conference action.
- In Friday's tilt, the Purple and Gold will be looking to win back-to-back games for the first time this season.
A LOOK AT LAST WEEK
- Elmira split its two UCHC bouts last weekend, falling to Nazareth by a 5-1 final score on Friday, before topping No. 7/11 Utica, 5-1, on Saturday evening.
- EC earned its first road win of the season in the victory over the nationally-ranked Pioneers.
- Spencer MacLean paced the Purple and Gold with four points on two goals and two assists over the weekend.
- Not far behind MacLean was the sophomore pair of Matthew Cuce (1g-2a) and Anthony Parrucci (1g-2a), who both tallied three points in the pair of games.
- Freshman Gennaro Anzevino was fantastic between the pipes in his first collegiate start against Utica, as he registered a whopping 40 saves and held one of the most potent offenses in the conference to just one goal.
SCOUTING STEVENSON
- The Mustangs enter Friday's contest with an unblemished 4-0-1 record after winning their last four games.
- Stevenson is a perfect 4-0-0 in UCHC play, earning league victories over Lebanon Valley, Chatham, King's (Pa.) and Manhattanville.
- Jordan Watt paces the team in points with 10 on two goals and eight assists.
- Watt's 2.00 points per game ranks is tied for first in all of Division III.
- Mike Davis leads the team in goals with six on the season.
- Between the pipes, Jacob Caffrey has started all five games for the Mustangs. He leads the league in both goals-against average (1.02) and save percentage (.961).
SCOUTING NEUMANN
- After beginning the season with two straight losses, the Knights have started to find their footing and enter Saturday's contest with a 2-3-1 record.
- In the UCHC, Neumann ranks second with a 2-1-1 record in league action.
- The Knights' lone conference setback was a 5-4 loss at the hands of Manhattanville on Friday, November 10, in Rye, New York.
- Senior Liam Board paces the team with 10 points on four goals and six assists.
- Board's teammates, Ryan Swain and Jake Davidson, have also played well this year, as the former paces the team in goals (6) and the latter leads Neumann in assists (7).
- Three different goalies have seen time in net for the Knights. Anthony Pupplo leads the group in starts (3) and saves (118), but has not yet recorded a victory on the year.
