ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Elmira College men's ice hockey will look to make its push for a playoff spot this weekend, as the Soaring Eagles take on Utica College and Nazareth College in ECAC West action. The Soaring Eagles travel to face the Pioneers of Utica on Friday, February 3rd, for a 7:00 p.m. bout, before hosting the Golden Flyers of Nazareth the following night at the Murray Athletic Center for a 7:00 p.m. clash.
WEEKEND OVERVIEW
- Following a weekend split with Stevenson and Lebanon Valley, the Soaring Eagles are back in action for a pair of ECAC West games against Utica on the road and Nazareth at the Murray Athletic Center.
- Elmira's away game against Utica is the team's first road contest since January 7th and only the second game away from the MAC since November.
- The Soaring Eagles head into the weekend in seventh place in the ECAC West standings, while Utica holds a one-game lead over second-place Hobart; Nazareth is holding on tightly to the fifth spot.
- Elmira will play Nazareth during EC's Athletics Alumni Weekend for a second consecutive year.

- Connor Powell '20 owns a team-leading 23 points on 11 goals and 12 assists.
- The 23 points from Powell are the most by an Elmira freshman since former 100-point scorer Rusty Masters '10 produced 25 (12g, 13a) during his debut season in 2006-07.
MOST IN 11 YEARS
- Matthew Cuce '20 has amassed a team-leading 17 assists during his rookie season.
- Cuce is the first Soaring Eagle freshman to log 17 assists in a single season since Tyler Cann '09 registered 17 helpers in his debut season in 2005-06.
- Pierre Rivard '04 was the last rookie to finish with more than 17 assists, as the former three-time All-ECAC West honoree capped his freshman year with 23 helpers in 2000-01.
UTICA AT A GLANCE
- The Pioneers head into Friday's league tilt with a 13-7-0 overall record and an 8-1-0 ECAC West record, which has Utica atop the league standings.
- Utica opened the season with eight straight wins, but went 2-7-0 over the next nine games, which included a four-game and a three-game losing streak.
- Since that 2-7-0 stretch, the Pioneers have won three straight, two of which have been against conference opponents (Manhattanville, Neumann).

- Nazareth opened the season by going 4-3-1, but has gone 2-9-1 since. The Golden Flyers are 1-5-0 in their last six games and are still searching for their first road win of the season (0-6-1).
- Dominik Gabaj paces the Golden Flyers with 19 points on a team-high 12 goals and seven assists. Five of Gabaj's goals have come on the power play, four of which have been against league opponents.
- Gabaj's 12 goals are tied for fourth-most in the ECAC West, while his five power-play tallies are also tied for fourth.
