Women's Volleyball Bounces Back With Four-Set Win Over SUNY Delhi

DELHI, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's volleyball team earned a four-set win on the road on Thursday evening, downing the Broncos of SUNY Delhi in non-conference action.

Lydia Milligan '21 paced EC's attack, posting a season-high 11 kills. Milligan also finished the match with her first-career double-double, tallying a season-best 12 digs. Taylor Kaznowski '19 posted a match-high 35 assists, while Kasey Campbell '19 finished with a team-high 21 digs.

After dropping the opening set by a score of 25-14, Elmira bounced back to take the next three sets to earn its 11th win of the season. The second-set highlighted the back-and-forth nature of the match as the score was tied 15 times. EC was eventually able to push ahead of the Broncos with a 3-0 run, capped by a kill from Milligan as the score read 23-20. Savannah Terry '21 floored a pair of kills for Elmira's final two points as the Soaring Eagles took the set 25-22.

The third set followed the script of the second as the teams traded blows throughout. With the score tied at 17-17, Terry tallied two-straight aces to put the Purple and Gold up 19-17. An ace from Kaznowski gave EC a four-point lead as Delhi called a timeout. The Broncos battled back, cutting the Soaring Eagles lead to one at 23-22, but the Purple and Gold rallied, as Karina Hastings '19 and Lauren Smith '21 combined for a block. Smith ended the set on the next point, flooring one of her six kills to seal a 25-22 win for EC. 

The Soaring Eagles came flying out of the gates in the fourth set, streaking out to a  9-3 lead.  EC continued to grow its lead as a 7-0 run highlighted by a pair of kills from both Milligan and Terry pushed the Purple and Gold ahead with the score at 18-7.  The Broncos used a 6-0 run of their own to get back into the set, cutting EC's lead to 20-15. Milligan halted the run with her final kill of the night as the Purple and Gold were able to hang on to take the set 25-20.
