ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- St. John Fisher College remained unbeaten in Empire 8 Conference play on Friday evening, as the Cardinals handed Elmira College a 94-49 loss in a battle of the beaks at the Manning and Napier Varsity Gym.
Eleven of the 12 Soaring Eagles who checked in for Elmira (4-13, 2-4 E8) scored at least two points, led by
Lauren Franklin '20 with eight and
Emily Breheny '20 with seven. Rookies
Mykenzie Malacusky '23 and
Haley Raville '23 each logged six points, while fellow first-year guard
Alyssa Gadoury '23 added four points and a team-high four rebounds. As a team, Elmira shot 36.5% (19-of-52) from the field and 29.4% (5-of-17) from 3-point range.
Fisher (12-4, 5-0 E8) roared ahead with 30 points in the first quarter and 28 in the second quarter, and never looked back. The Cardinals finished the night with a 53.6 field-goal percentage (37-of-69) and held a 44-to-26 advantage on the glass. Ella Eckert paced all players with 22 points for St. John Fisher.
The Purple and Gold began with a bit of a quick start. The Soaring Eagles made their first two shots, beginning with a trey from Malacusky and a two-point bucket from Franklin, which gave them a 5-4 lead one-and-a-half minutes into the game. St. John Fisher regained the lead for good 49 seconds later, when Leah Koonmen hit a trey of her own for the Cardinals.

- Franklin, who finished 4-of-9 (44.4%) from the floor, led Elmira with eight points and two steals.
- Franklin, Breheny, Malacusky, and Bridget Yaw '20 each distributed two assists for EC.
- Raville scored six points off of the bench, the second-most of her freshman campaign.
- All six of Raville's points came from 3-point range, as she went 2-for-2 from distance.
- Gadoury's four points were one shy of her season-high, while her four rebounds mark a new single-game career-high.
- Taylor Johnson '23 netted one trey, increasing her team lead to 21 on the season.
