BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Elmira College Men's Ice Hockey team came from behind once again and defeated the Golden Eagles from SUNY Brockport on Tuesday evening, 4-3. After falling behind 3-1 in the first period, the Soaring Eagles went for three unanswered goals, capped by the game-winner from
Shane Haviland '24 just six minutes into the third period.
Shawn Kennedy '24 led the way for the Purple & Gold after notching a pair of goals to increase his season total to eight while
Jeffrey Zero '23 came on in the second period and made 18 saves for the win in net.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SUNY Brockport wasted no time finding the back of the net, as well as a lead in the early going as Mitchell Parson scored on assists from Anthony Hora and Ryan Romeo just 99 seconds into the game. Less than three minutes later, it was Kennedy who would knot the score at 1-1 on a power-play opportunity as
Jared Smith '24 and
Ryan Reifler '24 were credited with assists.
Just over two minutes later at the 6:15 mark in the first period, the Golden Eagles would answer the call and score their second in as many minutes against Elmira goaltender
Chris Janzen '21 and retake the lead at 2-1. The home squad would cap the scoring, and take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission as Romero scored on assists from Hora and Kevin Mainello at the 15:58 mark.
Out of the intermission, the Soaring Eagles went to work on the offensive end as it was Kennedy once again on the power-play, scoring on assists from
Chance Gorman '24 and Reifler to cut the EC deficit to 3-2. As play continued, the offense for both sides seemed to take a halt until
Bailey Krawczyk '24 scored on an assist from
Christian Abrams '25, tying the game at 3-3 with 6:20 remaining in the second period.
After the first period, Zero would come on in relief for Janzen in net. Janzen finished the game with six saves in net allowing three goals. After securing his first win of the season in Saturday's 5-2 win over Castleton, Zero would go on to make 18 saves in the final two periods to earn the win, his second in just four days.
Haviland would give Elmira their first lead of the game in the 7
th minute of the third period after scoring on an assist from
Marty Kapoian '22 which would secure the win for EC.
