Women's Lacrosse Routs Wells, 17-3, Behind Ferguson's 10 Points

AURORA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team put together an all-around dominant performance on Wednesday evening in a 17-3 victory on the road over Wells College.

The Soaring Eagles (2-1) controlled both ends of the field from the opening whistle. Elmira finished the contest with a 34-to-11 advantage in shots, a 14-4 lead in draw controls, and collected more ground balls than the Express (0-2), 28-23.

In an incredible individual performance, first-year attacker Emily Ferguson '24 continued to score at a torrent pace. The Waterloo, New York, native scored a game-high five goals, the third consecutive game in which she's done so to start her collegiate career. Additionally, Ferguson distributed five assists, giving her a career-high 10 points and doubling her point total through three games this spring.

Second-year attacker Kendra Heath '23 recorded three goals with two assists, finishing second on the team with five points. Catrina Dinehart '23 added four points on two goals and two assists, while Sabrina Lounsavang '23 netted the first three goals of her career for a hat trick.

EC also received two goals apiece from Maura May '24 and Kari Jensen '23, while Candice Sabatino '24 and Alex Cox '23 each had one assist.

Before moving to the field in the second half, Cox earned the starting nod in the cage. She logged three saves and surrendered just one goal, helping the Purple and Gold jump out to a 9-1 lead at halftime. Krystyna Lilland '21 played the final 30 minutes in goal and also stopped a trio of shots by the Express.
