Women’s Volleyball Upends Utica, 3-0, on Senior Night

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Elmira College women's volleyball left little doubt in tonight's matchup, as the Soaring Eagles (4-1, 3-1 E8) cruised past visiting Utica College (1-3, 1-3 E8) in three sets on EC's Class of 2021 Recognition Night. Prior to the start of the contest, Elmira honored its four graduating members of the Class of 2021, who played in their final home game of the regular season.
 
Elmira held Utica under 20 points in each of the three sets, winning it by scores of 25-14, 25-19, 25-17. The Elmira women connected at a 24.2% clip (38k-15e-95ta) while holding the Pioneers to 3.5% (24k-21e-85ta).
 
Savannah Terry '21 led the Elmira attack with a match-high 10 kills on 76.9% hitting. She also produced three blocks, including one solo block.
 
Lydia Milligan '21 and Amelia Martin '23 were not far behind in kills as the duo logged nine apiece. Milligan chipped in four digs and an ace, while Martin added three service aces, three blocks and a trio of digs.
 
Senior Lauren Smith '21 was consistent in all phases of the game. She finished with six kills, two service aces, one block and nine digs.
 
Orchestrating the Elmira offense was Kassi Hastings '21, who produced a match-high 32 assists. She also made seven digs.
 
EC's starting libero, Maddie Hampton '24, continued to shine during her rookie campaign. The local product out of Horseheads, New York, recorded a match-high six service aces and tied for the match high in digs with 12.

Elmira returns to action this Saturday, April 10, when the Soaring Eagles travel to face the Saxons of Alfred University in an 11:00 a.m. doubleheader. The first of two matches will count towards the E8 standings.
