PITTSFORD, N.Y. --  The Elmira College men's soccer team dropped an Empire 8 conference match at St. John Fisher University Saturday afternoon 2-0. The Soaring Eagles made a late push in the 70th minute but were not able to convert any of their chances. Senior Zachary Raffino '23 recorded six saves in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cardinals got out in front at the 29 minute mark when Matt Gentile scored on an assist from Riley Rease. EC would test the St. John Fisher goalie three times in the final 12 minutes of the half but the Cardinal keeper was able to save each attempt.

After half, Fisher won a corner kick in the 57th minute and were able to double their lead on a goal from Jackson Bishop, assisted by Stephen Guidi. In the 70th minute Elmira would make its strongest threat of the game over a two minute stretch that saw it win its only corner of the game and rip off three shot attempts. Senior Moustapha Camara '23 attempt went high, sophomore Ashraf Bonseu '25 had his shot blocked by a Cardinal defender and senior Nicholas Zanger '23 put the third Soaring Eagle attempt wide.

EC has a quick turnaround on one day rest as they host the Alfred State Pioneers in a non-conference match Monday, October 3 at Campus Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
