PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Elmira College Women's Basketball team dropped its first game of the season in its Empire 8 Conference opener on Friday to Nazareth, 65-54. After trailing by eight points at the half, the Soaring Eagles were outscored by just three points in the second half and outscored the Golden Flyers 20-19 in the final quarter.
Desiree Roy '25 posted her third double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and collecting 13 rebounds to pace the Soaring Eagles. Taylor Albrecht '22 added an additional 12 points to the scoreline for EC, tacking on five rebounds as well.
In the contest, the Golden Flyers were able to control the offensive glass, out-rebounding Elmira 16-5 which resulted in a 14-0 advantage in second-chance points. Elmira did control the fastbreak point battle 8-0, forcing Nazareth into 17 turnovers for the game.
Despite converting on the same number of shots from the floor on 16 less attempts, the Soaring Eagles sent Nazareth to the free throw line a staggering 21 times where they converted on 17 attempts.
