MeganRae Burke Named E8 Defensive Player of the Week

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – For the first time in her career, Elmira College field hockey goalkeeper MeganRae Burke '24 has been named Empire 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

Burke opened the season by recording a combined 38 saves through two matches for the Soaring Eagles. Burke set a career-high mark with 17 stops against Wilkes before notching 21 saves against Brockport on Saturday.

She has a .776 save percentage with a 5.50 goals-against average through two matches. Burke currently ranks fifth in NCAA Division III averaging 19 saves per game, while the Soaring Eagles rank fifth as a team in saves per game at 19.50.

Burke is the first EC goalkeeper to earn weekly accolades from the E8 since Tina O'Donnell '20 was awarded for her play in the net during the 2019 season.
