Men's Basketball Downed by Fisher on Friday Evening Inside Speidel Gymnasium

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's basketball team dropped its Friday evening matchup to the visiting Cardinals of St. John Fisher University, 96-73. After falling behind 10-0 in the first two minutes of play, the Soaring Eagles would fight back to eventually take its first lead of the game with 8:33 remaining in the first half (24-22) following a made jumper from Riley Spencer '26. 

From there, the Cardinals would close the half on a 23-8 run, extending its lead to 45-32 heading into the break.

The Soaring Eagles would force Fisher into 16 turnovers, resulting in 20 points. Fisher, who used a 19-point, seven rebound effort from Daniel Cook, were able to shoot 48.6% from the floor while forcing Elmira into 25 turnovers. 

Tyler Cardello '26 paced Elmira on the offensive side with 13 points and five rebounds, while Spencer finished with 12 points. Quintel Clements '22 rounded out the EC scoring with 10 points and five boards, while David Aysho '26 tied a season-best with three blocks.

William Peaks '26 would score a career-high six points in just over ten minutes of action, while Jeff Jung Jr. '23 scored five. Jack O'Grady '26 would record a pair of steals in limited minutes, while Steven Webster '26 finished 4-of-4 from the stripe for his first collegiate points.
