ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's basketball team dropped its Saturday afternoon matchup to the visiting Golden Flyers on Nazareth College, as clean play from the opposition who committed just six turnovers along with an 8-of-19 mark from deep sparked the visitors to victory.
After being outscored 45-20 in the opening frame, it was much of the same for EC in the second half, who scored just 21 points compared to 43 for Nazareth. In its second-lowest shooting percentage game of the season (30.2%), the Soaring Eagles were outmatched in the points off turnovers battle (23-6), points in the paint (50-20), second chance points (14-4), and bench points (47-28).
Elmira was paced offensively by Tyler Cardello '26, who finished with eight first-half points and eight overall. The Soaring Eagles received six points apiece from David Aysho '26, Marc Anthony Artuz '24, and William Peaks '26.
The Golden Flyers, who finished 57.6% from the floor, were led by Solomon McFarlane, Jaylen Savage, and Logan Blankenberg who finished with 12, 11, and ten points, respectively.
