BUFFALO, N.Y. – Elmira College women's basketball made the trip up to Buffalo for the Buffalo State Invitational, where they took on the Wildcats of SUNY Poly for its first game of the weekend invitational. After a back-and-forth first quarter that saw Elmira down by 10-8 with two minutes to go, Elmira took the lead on a three by D'Asia Jones '25. Elmira tacked on another point before the break to bring its lead to 14-10. From that point, the Soaring Eagles would not look back, scoring ten unanswered points to start the second quarter and taking a 32-18 lead into the half. The Purple & Gold cruised in the second half to claim the 60-30 victory over the Wildcats.
Laura Bogota '25 led the way for the Soaring Eagles, finishing the game with 12 points and five assists, both team-highs. Taylor Jung '25 also had double-digit points with 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Soaring Eagles took a 14-10 lead into the second quarter after a five-point quarter from Jones, including hitting the three with just over a minute remaining, which gave Elmira its first lead since the 4:34 mark.
- In the second, Elmira would not relinquish its lead, scoring ten unanswered points to open the quarter. This run was led by Bogota's five points. EC outscored the Wildcats 18-8 in the quarter and took a commanding 32-18 lead going into halftime. Bogota finished the quarter with eight points, going 2-3 from behind the arc. Nevaeh Winston '25 added four points of her own to go along with two offensive rebounds.
- The Soaring Eagles outscored SUNY Poly 18-6 in the third quarter, including going on a 13-0 run to increase their lead to 47-20. Jung led EC with four points in the quarter, while Bogota tallied four assists in the third. Elmira would take a 50-24 lead into the final ten minutes.
- After a scoreless 2:15 to open the fourth, Jung hit her second three of the afternoon, giving EC a 29-point advantage over the Wildcats. However, the main story from this quarter was the defense, which held SUNY Poly to 1-14 from the floor. With this stout defense, Elmira would cruise to a 60-30 win. Jung, Anna Ward '25, and Natalie Musolino '26 each had three points in the quarter, including a three-point play by Musolino for Elmira's final points of the game.
- The Soaring Eagles outshot the Wildcats 23-8 during the game while going 6-17 from behind the arc.
