LOCATION: Lincoln, Nebraska | Snyder Arena
TEAM RECORDS: Elmira (1-4, 0-0 E8), Buena Vista (5-0, 0-0 ARC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The game's first nine minutes saw seven lead changes between the two teams in a tight contest. The Soaring Eagles were led by Cardello in this stretch, with the forward scoring 12 points, which saw EC trail 21-20 after this stretch.
  • The Beavers scored their following 15 points unanswered, helping them build a sizable lead through 14 minutes. Buena Vista went on to outscore Elmira 23-7 for the final 11 minutes of the half, seeing the Beavers take a 44-27 lead into halftime.
  • Cardello began the second half scoring six points in the first four minutes. However, Elmira still trailed by 19. From that point, JJ Babcock '26 became the primary source of offense for the Soaring Eagles, scoring nine points in the next five minutes. Despite that effort, the deficit remained too significant to overcome, with the Soaring Eagles still trailing 68-48 after that stretch.
  • For the final 10 minutes of the game, Elmira was led by Cardello and Riley Spencer '26, scoring six and nine points, respectively. This would not be enough to challenge the Beavers' lead, and Elmira fell by a final of 97-71.
  • Elmira shot 49% from the field compared to 47.2% for the Beavers.
