LA PLUME, PA. – The Elmira College men's wrestling program celebrated its first dual victory in program history on Friday night as the Soaring Eagles defeated Keystone College 36-12 in a road matchup held inside the Gambal Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The match opened with a pair of no-contests from either squad at 125 pounds or 133 pounds as
Blake O'Brien '24 was the first to take the mat for the Soaring Eagles at 141 pounds. O'Brien would win his bout via forfeit to give Elmira a 6-0 lead in the match against Keystone.
Selvin Maldonado '25 notched the first fall of the night for the Purple & Gold as he recorded six points wrestling at 149 pounds. Maldonado would pin his counterpart in a time of 2:27 to extend Elmira's lead in the match to 12-0. Keystone would follow with a forfeit win at 157 pounds to trim the deficit to 12-6.
Wrestling at 165 pounds,
Hollis Berry '25 delivered a fall of his own for the Soaring Eagles as he would take down his opponent at the 2:58 mark to push EC's lead in the match to 18-6. Three forfeits would follow in the match with Elmira claiming victories at 184 pounds and 197 pounds, while Keystone was victorious at 174 pounds.
In the final bout of the night, it would be
Chris Powell '25 competing at heavyweight for the Purple & Gold. Powell would need just 1:18 off the clock to notch a fall over his opponent and secure a 36-12 victory in the process for Elmira.
Bryan Stafford '26 and
Caleb Tuttle '26 also notched forfeit victories in the match for Elmira at 184 pounds and 197 pounds.
