ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's basketball team dropped its first game out of the holiday recess to the visiting Golden Flyers from Nazareth University on Friday evening, 88-69.
The Soaring Eagles were paced offensively by Tyler Cardello '26, who would finish the contest with 21 points to go along with 12 rebounds. Additionally, JJ Babcock '26 and Aidan Carnevale '27 each finished in double-figures, scoring 11 and ten, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Golden Flyers would come out and take a 7-2 lead in the early-going, which forced the Soaring Eagles into a timeout. Following a made three-pointer from Cardello which trimmed the EC deficit to 15-13, and another deep ball from Carnevale to make it 17-16 in favor of the Golden Flyers, the visiting squad would finish up the final 10:43 of the opening half on a 22-11 run, as they Nazareth carried a 39-28 lead into the break.
- In the opening half, Cardello would lead all scorers with 11 points and six rebounds, while the Soaring Eagles shot just 10-of-28 (35.7%) compared to 16-of-40 (40.0%) for the Golden Flyers.
- In the first 11 minutes of the second half, the Soaring Eagles would see most of its scoring (10 of 18 points) come from the free throw line, while the GOlden Flyers found success on the interior. The Golden Flyers would finish the contest outscoring Elmira 49-41 in the second half, while shooting 59.5% from the floor on shots excluding those from long range.
- Elmira would go 14-of-19 from the free throw line in the second half, finishing 20-of-29 for the contest, while shooting 23-of-60 from the floor (38.3%).
