Elmira Falls to St. John Fisher on Saturday

ELMIRA, N.Y. – Elmira women's basketball continued its homestand on Saturday afternoon with a game against the Cardinals of St. John Fisher. After making half of their shots from the field in the first quarter, Elmira could not continue its offensive consistency for the remainder of the game and fell 92-37.

Laura Bogota '25 led Elmira with 14 points, with two rebounds and three assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The game's first points came from a St. John Fisher three-pointer before a pair of baskets by Nevaeh Winston '25 and Mallory Welty '26 gave the Soaring Eagles a 4-3 lead. However, the Cardinals went on a 9-2 run after that point and finished the quarter leading the Soaring Eagles 30-15. Bogota finished the quarter with seven points for Elmira.
  • St. John Fisher began the second quarter with six unanswered points to bring its lead to 21. Baskets by Winston, Bogota, and D'Asia Jones '25 got the lead back down to 18, but the Cardinals scored 11 unanswered points to close out the half, and Elmira trailed 51-22.
  • Elmira had a made free throw by Jones and a layup by Taylor Jung '25 to start the third quarter, but EC could not produce much else offensively and were outscored 21-8 in the quarter.
  • Despite making five free throws in the game's final quarter, the Soaring Eagles only managed to make one basket from the field and fell by a final score of 92-37.
  • The Soaring Eagles started the game shooting 50% from the field in the first quarter, going 6/12 in the first ten minutes. However, they only made seven baskets for the rest of the game.
