ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's basketball team was unable to overcome a slow first half as the Soaring Eagles dropped an 80-51 decision against SUNY Oneonta on Saturday at the Michael A. Freilich Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Red Dragons opened the contest by scoring eight straight points before JJ Babcock '26 hit a layup to get Elmira onto the scoreboard.
- Tyler Cardello '26 connected on a 3-pointer to trim the deficit to 15-7 with just under 15 minutes to play in the half, while Kelton Brown '28 added six points and one block for the Soaring Eagles.
- The Soaring Eagles would warm up some offensively in the second half as Elmira hit 37.5 percent of its shots from the field after connecting on just 24 percent in the first half. Elmira connected a pair of 3-pointers in the second half as Daemon Thomas '28 and Amin Ba-Ahmad hit their shots.
- Cardello finished the game with 13 points, while Brown recorded nine points and seven rebounds for Elmira. Ty Barrett '27 added eight points on the night for the Soaring Eagles.
