ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Elmira College women's basketball dropped their first game of the season on Saturday afternoon to the Buffalo State Bengals, 66-57.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After being outscored 25-14 in the first quarter, the Soaring Eagles battled back to make it a 35-29 deficit after the first half.
Adiya Jones poured in 16 first-half points for the Bengals and finished the game leading all players with a game-high 24.
Laura Bogota '25 paced the Purple & Gold with another 20-point effort in the loss, her second 20-point game of the season.
Mallory Welty '26 was the only other Soaring Eagles in double figures with 14.
Nevaeh Winston '25 and
Victoria Rought '25 finished with nine and six points, respectively, and
Taylor Jung '25 (six) and
D'Asia Jones '25 (seven) led the Soaring Eagles.
The Soaring Eagles weren't able to get their shots to fall, shooting 36,2% from the field despite a 42.1% conversion rate from beyond the arc. It was the opposite story for the Bengals who only saw six of 22 three-point attempts fall but ended the game shooting almost 42% from the field.
