ELMIRA, N.Y. – A 24-point fourth quarter would not be enough in the end for the Elmira College women's basketball program as the Soaring Eagles dropped a 58-51 decision against the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs on Saturday inside Speidel Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Mustangs opened the contest by scoring seven straight points, before Elmira's Taylor Jung '25 answered with a bucket to end the run. Elmira closed the quarter with three points at the foul line as Amarionah Dixon '26 connected on a pair to make it 9-5.
- Morrisville rallied in the second quarter to extend its lead to 19-9 with 4:17 remaining, before the Soaring Eagles would trim into the deficit. D'Asia Jones '25 cut the deficit to 19-11 with a bucket and would be followed with a 3-pointer from Mallory Welty '26 to make it 19-14. The Mustangs closed the second quarter on a 6-0 run and would take a 25-14 lead into the half.
- Trailing 32-16 with just under seven minutes left to play in the third quarter, Elmira would capitalize on a 9-0 run to work its way back into the contest. Nevaeh Winston '25 started the run for the Soaring Eagles with a bucket and foul to complete a 3-point play.
- Back-to-back buckets from Dixon with 4:35 remaining trimmed the gap to 32-25 before the Mustangs used a 6-2 run to close the quarter and take a 38-27 lead into the final 10 minutes of action.
- Elmira would trim the deficit to four points on two different occasions with less than three minutes left to play in the fourth quarter. Winston finished a layup for Elmira with 53 seconds left to make it 55-51, but that would close the scoring for the Soaring Eagles as Morrisville hit a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left to secure the victory.
- Laura Bogota '25 paced the Soaring Eagles with 15 points, while Mallory Welty added 10 points. Dixon just missed a double-double as she finished with eight points and 11 rebounds to go along with four steals.
