Blue Devils Come from Behind to Beat Soaring Eagles, 2-1

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Two second-half goals for Fredonia stole victory away from the Soaring Eagles on Saturday afternoon. First, just minutes after Jose Navea Corporan '27 scored on a penalty kick, Chance LaCroix tied the game. In the 83rd minute, Vincent DeBello found the back of the net, sending Elmira home empty-handed.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Corporan's penalty kick put the Soaring Eagles up 1-0 in the 49th minute. Corporan opted to go finesse instead of power, hitting a ground ball into the bottom left corner, beating the Blue Devils' keeper. 

LaCriox pulled the Blue Devils back even in the 67th minute. A late goal from DeBello put the Blue Devils ahead 2-1 and they shut things down defensively, holding off the pressure from the Soaring Eagles in the final minutes.

Valentino Aguilera '27 and Pietro Gallina '26 each recorded a shot on goal for the Soaring Eagles. Asher Ellis '25 stopped two shots in net.

 

LOOKING AHEAD:
The Soaring Eagles are back in action on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 PM against the SUNY-Delhi Broncos. Elmira is 3-1-1 all-time against the Broncos and will look to get Jim McIntyre his first win as head coach of the Soaring Eagles.
