High-Powered Second Half Nets EC First Conference Win of Season

ELMIRA, NY – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles finished their SUNY weekend with a 92-85 win over the Geneseo Knights. A 55-point second half fueled EC to its first win of the season.

JUST THE BASICS:
SCORE: Elmira 92, Geneseo 85
LOCATION: Elmira, NY | Speidel Gymnasium
TEAM RECORDS: Elmira (5-10, 1-5 Empire 8), Geneseo (5-10, 2-4 Empire 8)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
An outstanding shooting night from Elmira was huge in the winning effort. 55.7% (34-61) from the field overall and a 65.5% (19-29) clip in the second half helped the Soaring Eagles salvage the final game of their SUNY weekend.

Five players registered double-digit point games for EC in the people of Riley Spencer '25 (18), Kelton Brown '28, Tyler Cardello '26 (17 each), Chris Woodard '28 (16), and JJ Babcock '26 (13).

It's the third game in a row that Spencer has finished with at least 18 points, as he posted 19 on Jan. 14 at Sage and 20 at home last night against the Golden Eagles of SUNY Brockport.

Babcock also finished with a team- and game-high nine rebounds. Brown and Woodard also chipped in on the glass, finishing with six boards each.

Brown's seven assists are good for a new career-high. Babcock dished out four dimes and Carter Seeberger '26 notched three helpers in his 12 minutes of action.

UP NEXT:
The Soaring Eagles will have almost a week off before returning to action on Friday, Jan. 24. EC will be back on the road to take on the Golden Flyers of Nazareth. Opening tip is slated for 7:30 PM.
