ELMIRA, N.Y. – A second-half rally by the Elmira College women's basketball team would come up short at home on Saturday as the Soaring Eagles dropped a 64-57 decision against the SUNY Geneseo Knights in an Empire 8 Conference matchup inside Speidel Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- SUNY Geneseo outscored the Soaring Eagles 14-8 in the first quarter of action as the Knights went 6-of-15 from the floor and limited Elmira to just 3-of-12 from the floor and 0-of-7 from 3-point range.
- The Knights continued clicking on offense in the second quarter as they went 7-of-15 from the floor despite going just 1-of-6 from 3-point range. Elmira would go 5-of-15 from the floor, including a pair of 3-pointers.
- Elmira rallied early in the second quarter to trim the deficit to 14-11 following a 3-pointer from Kelsey Stewart '26 and knotted the score on the next possession with a 3-pointer from Laura Bogota '25. The Knights regained the lead and would stretch their advantage to double digits with just under three minutes to play in the quarter.
- The Soaring Eagles outscored Geneseo 21-14 in the third quarter and would trim the deficit to 39-38 following a layup from Amarionah Dixon '26 with 3:06 left on the clock. Dixon would then give Elmira a 40-39 lead with a put-back off her own shot.
- Geneseo would take a 44-42 lead into the fourth quarter after scoring the final four points, including a basket with 35 seconds left on the clock.
- Both sides would trade leads in the fourth quarter as Elmira gained a six-point advantage with 5:55 left to play following a 3-pointer from Mallory Welty '26. The Knights rallied to knot the score 52-52 and would lead until the final buzzer as they stretched their lead to as many as nine points before securing the 64-57 win.
- Dixon paced EC with 15 points and eight rebounds in the contest, while Taylor Jung '25 added 11 points and seven rebounds. Bogota added 12 points for Elmira, while Welty finished with 10 points.
