ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A 44-point offensive output in the second half would not be enough for the Elmira College women's basketball team after a slow start in the first half as the Soaring Eagles dropped a 79-63 decision on Saturday against St. John Fisher University in Empire 8 action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Cardinals outscored Elmira 24-9 in the first quarter to take an early grasp on the contest. Taylor Jung '25 connected on a 3-pointer for the Soaring Eagles in the quarter, while Nevaeh Winston '25, Emma Ryan '28, and Amarionah Dixon '26 also recorded a basket for EC.
- The offensive outburst continued in the second quarter for St. John Fisher as the Cardinals tallied 22 points to take a 46-19 lead into the half. Ryan would pace the Purple & Gold in the quarter as she went 2-of-2 from the field to go along with a pair of rebounds.
- Elmira would get its offense rolling in the second half of the contest, with Jung tallying seven points, including a 3-for-4 effort at the free throw line. Mia Welty '26 would also connect on a 3-pointer in the quarter for EC, who shot 7-of-16 from the field.
- Mallory Welty '26 drained a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter for the Soaring Eagles, while Ryan added nine points. Despite outscoring the Cardinals in the second half, Elmira would be unable to complete the comeback as St. John Fisher recorded the 79-63 victory.
- Jung finished the contest with a team-high 20 points to go along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Ryan had a career night for the Purple & Gold, as she finished with 19 points to go along with three assists and one block.
