GENESEO, N.Y. – Despite a strong first-half performance and a standout night from Riley Spencer '25, the Elmira College Soaring Eagles fell short in a high-scoring affair, dropping an 88-83 decision to SUNY Geneseo on the road in Empire 8 action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elmira came out firing in the first half, outscoring the Knights 45-31 behind hot shooting from beyond the arc. Spencer led the charge with 15 first-half points, hitting three shots from deep, while
Tyler Cardello '25 added 10 points, including a pair of three-pointers.
The Soaring Eagles shot an impressive 58.3% from three-point range (7-of-12) and went a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line in the first half to take a 14-point lead into the break.
SUNY Geneseo stormed back in the second half, outscoring Elmira 57-38. Despite Elmira's efforts to maintain the lead, the Knights capitalized on key turnovers and fast-break opportunities to regain momentum.
Spencer continued his scoring tear, finishing with a game-high 28 points on 9-of-26 shooting, including five three-pointers and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.
Cardello contributed a double-digit performance with 17 points and came close to a double double with eight rebounds. Owen Evans '26 contributed 10 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Elmira dominated in second-chance points (17) and points off turnovers (24), but SUNY Geneseo's efficient second-half shooting proved to be the difference.
