MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's basketball team opened the 2025-26 season on the road at SUNY Morrisville. A strong defensive outing paired with a resilience offense saw the Soaring Eagles secure the 70-47 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Elmira jumped out to a 15-13 lead after the first quarter, then matched that with another 15 points in the second to carry a 30-20 advantage heading into the half.
- In a back-and-forth game, the Soaring Eagles separated themselves from the Mustangs with rebounding and strong defensive efforts.
- In the second period, a three-pointer from Kelsey Stewart '26 and Lauren Miller '27 recaptured the lead. At the half, Elmira held a 10-point lead over SUNY Morrisville.
- Momentum swung in favor of the Soaring Eagles during the third period by going on a 10-2 run, making the score 40-25. Strong ball movement and perimeter shooting opened the game up, seeing Elmira outscore the Mustangs 26-15 in the third quarter.
- SUNY Morrisville tried to make a run at the start of the fourth period, but Elmira's strong defense closed any chance at a comeback.
- Emma Ryan '28 led the way offensively recording a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Amarionah Dixon '26 paved the way defensively with 22 rebounds, marking 15 defensive and seven offensive boards.
