Elmira Drops 73 Points in Victory Over Keystone

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's basketball hosted the Giants of Keystone inside the Speidel Gymnasium to close out 2025 in a non-conference matchup. The Soaring Eagles left their mark against the Giants, 73-48.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first quarter, the Soaring Eagles landed on the board first with a successful free throw from Aynsley Belcher. Keystone quickly went on a 6-0 run to steal the lead from Elmira. Momentum changed after a turnover from the Giants paired with a steal and layup from Sophia Ward. A shot in the paint from Abby Belcher followed by a three-point shot from Lauren Miller saw Elmira recapture the lead. The Soaring Eagles carried their momentum through the remainder of the first quarter, holding an 18-9 advantage. Elmira continued their hot streak with buckets from Hayley Mosch, Emma Ryan, and Amarionah Dixon. Mosch and Ryan combined for 16 of Elmira's 18 points in the second quarter. A strong offensive quarter saw Elmira holding a 36-22 lead at the half.
Miller opened scoring in the second half of play by draining a three-pointer to continue elevating the Soaring Eagles. In the third quarter alone, Elmira forced Keystone to make seven turnovers and recorded nine steals. The Soaring Eagles outscored the Giants 20-10 to finish enter the final frame with a 24-point advantage (56-32). In the fourth quarter, a Dixon layup and a pair of free throws from Belcher continued tacking on points to the Soaring Eagles lead. Mia Welty and Mosch contributed to the score with shots in the paint, along with Kylie Hook and Erin Bracken. Belcher tallied the final points for the Soaring Eagles, securing the 73-48 victory over the Giants of Keystone.

LEADERS
Dixon led the way offensively recording 18 points, nine rebounds, and three steals. Ryan followed with 15 points and two steals. Defensively, Belcher notched ten rebounds while Mallory Welty recorded six.  

UP NEXT
Elmira will travel to SUNY Brockport on Tuesday, January 6 to open Empire 8 conference play. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
