BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Laura Bogota '25 (19) and Taylor Jung '26 (15) combined for 34 points, but the Elmira College Soaring Eagles came up short against Empire 8 leader SUNY Brockport, falling 71-58 on Saturday afternoon at the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SUNY Brockport jumped out to an early 21-11 lead after the first quarter, capitalizing on Elmira's slow offensive start. Despite matching Brockport's output in the second quarter (10-10), the Soaring Eagles trailed 31-21 at halftime.
Elmira found its rhythm offensively in the second half, led by Bogota and Jung. The duo combined for 17 points in the third quarter, helping Elmira outscore Brockport 19-16 to cut the deficit to single digits.
In the fourth quarter, Elmira continued to battle, with Bogota knocking down key three-pointers to keep the Soaring Eagles within striking distance. However, Brockport's defense forced crucial turnovers late, sealing the win for the undefeated Empire 8 leaders.
Bogota finished with a game-high 19 points, hitting five three-pointers, while Jung posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
D'Asia Jones '26 provided a spark off the bench with eight points and four rebounds, while Nevaeh Winston '27 grabbed six boards and added four points.
Elmira dominated the glass, out-rebounding Brockport 47-40 and scoring 22 second-chance points, but 32 turnovers proved costly in the end.
