Season-Best Shooting Performance Sends Women’s Basketball into Playoffs on Four-Game Winning Streak

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's basketball team put together a season-best shooting performance in a 75-47 victory against Keuka College on Tuesday as the Soaring Eagles connected on 52.5 percent of their shots from the field to close the regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Elmira opened the game on a 10-0 run as Laura Bogota '25 connected on back-to-back 3-pointers for the Purple & Gold. Later in the opening quarter, D'Asia Jones '25 finished consecutive layups to give the Soaring Eagles an 18-8 advantage.
  • Mallory Welty '26 closed the quarter with a jumper followed by a 3-pointer for the Purple & Gold as Elmira would take a 25-12 lead into the second quarter against the Wolves.
  • The Soaring Eagles used an 8-0 run to open the second quarter as Aynsley Belcher '28 hit a jumper to give Elmira a 33-12 advantage with 5:42 remaining. Belcher would then finish consecutive layups to push the EC lead to 39-15.
  • Elmira would continue its efficient shooting from the floor in the second half as the Soaring Eagles put up 14 points in the third quarter and 17 points in the final quarter of action.
  • Bogota paced EC in the contest with 14 points, while Nevaeh Winston '25 and Amarionah Dixon '26 each recorded nine points for the Soaring Eagles.
  • Keuka finished the contest shooting 15-of-58 from the field and 2-of-20 from 3-point range despite going 15-of-20 at the free-throw line.
  • Elmira finished the contest with 16 assists, its second-highest total in a game this season, following the Soaring Eagles' 18 assists earlier this season in a home win against the Wolves on February 4.
 
 
UP NEXT: The Soaring Eagles will head to Brockport on Saturday for the quarterfinals of the Empire 8 Women's Basketball Tournament. The start time for the matchup between the No. 1 seed Golden Eagles and No. 8 seed Soaring Eagles has not yet been determined.
