Elmira took down Houghton College and Alfred University by identical 7-2 scores on back-to-back days to advance their winning streak to five matches. The win over the Highlanders was also EC's first-ever Empire 8 Conference-opening victory, breaking a 15-year stretch of starting the conference season with a loss.
 
Mansell went 4-0 on the week, increasing his personal win streak to 10 matches. Additionally, Mansell has not lost in the month of March, going 10-0 with one match against Hartwick College left to play. He and partner, Chris Konow '18, had little trouble in their 8-3 win over Houghton's second doubles team, but they faced a much tougher test against Alfred's second doubles team. The duo trailed late in their match but rallied to force a tiebreaker at 8-8 and never let the Saxons get going in the breaker, winning it 7-3. In his two singles matches, Mansell was dominant as he won 24 of the 29 total games played. He rolled at third singles against Houghton, winning 6-1, 6-2, then posted a 6-1, 6-1 win against Alfred to cap-off the weekend.
