Claire Preisch '21 helped the EC women's cross country team make history on Saturday morning at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Classic, as the Soaring Eagles won their first race in the program's five-year history. Elmira also set another team record by placing three runners inside the top 10, with Preisch leading the way in sixth place. The second-year standout runner navigated the six-kilometer course in 26:56.40.
A native of Milton, Pennsylvania, Preisch's time marked the fourth-fastest 6K of her career and the 10th-best in program history. In addition, sixth place is the second-highest finish she has recorded as a Soaring Eagle.
The Purple and Gold will return to the trails on Saturday, September 29, when the EC women head to the Cazenovia College Homecoming Invitational, hosted by the Wildcats at Fenner Field in Cazenovia, New York.
