Chris Janzen '21 had a busy weekend between the pipes for the men's ice hockey team, which split a two-game series with Wilkes. In Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on Friday night, the senior netminder backstopped the Purple and Gold to an exciting 4-3 overtime victory with a career-high 46 saves. In the home half of the series, the Pelham, Ontario, native added 28 more stops. Across both contests, Janzen logged a 2.95 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage in 122:13 minutes of action.
On Tuesday, March 23, Elmira and Utica will resume play and finish the third period from their United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) tilt on March 6, which was suspended due to COVID-19 protocol. The Pioneers will pick up where they left off, holding a 5-2 lead with 20 minutes remaining in regulation.
