2023 Elmira College Athletics Hall of Fame BanquetKalweit graduated in 1984 with one of the most well-rounded careers in EC history. A two-time captain his junior and senior year with Paul Milan ‘83 and Pete Greer ‘84, he ranks fifth all-time in program history in scoring with 183 points and ranked second all-time following his graduation in 1984. His 95 career goals rank fourth all-time in program history, while his 39 goals during the 1982-83 campaign are tied for the third-most in a single season. Kalweit was named an All-American following his junior season in 1982-83 and his senior season in 1983-84, while also being named to the NYCHA First Team in 1982-83 and 1983-84.

After graduation, Kalweit played four professional seasons, first in the International Hockey League from with Toledo (1985-86) and Flint (1986-87). He then played for Karhu-Kissat in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, from 1987-89. In his two seasons in Finland, the left winger scored 55 goals and 94 points in 76 games. Kalweit has served as an assistant coach with the men's program since 2000 and retired as a teacher for the Elmira City School District’s Hendy Elementary School in 2022 after starting with the district in 1997. He completed his master’s degree at EC in 1995.
