Elmira Struggles on the Road at SUNY Fredonia

Fredonia, NY The Soaring Eagles Men's Basketball team suffered another defeat as the Blue Devils of SUNY Fredonia captured a home victory by the score of 59-40.  EC struggled from the field as they shot 27.9% and 18.2% from distance.

Elmira was able to keep up with the Blue Devils for the first ten minutes of the first half as both teams would trade leads.  EC would hold a one-point lead at the 10:36 mark in the period as rookie Derrick Vogel '14 (Bel Air, MD -- CM Wright) converted on a lay-up.  Shortly after, Fredonia would take back the lead with a bucket of their own before Zach Simpson '11 (Savona, NY -- Campbell-Savona) hit one of two free throws, tying the game at 16 a piece.  From there on out Elmira would go ice cold as they would be held to two points for the remaining 9:52.  Fredonia would take a 28-18 lead into halftime.

The second half would be much of the same as Elmira went 5-of-21 from the field.  Fredonia would build up a lead and maintain it on their way to their second straight win of the season.  With the loss Elmira falls to 1-4.

Bobby DiPiazza '11 (Wyckoff, NJ -- Bergen Catholic) led the tem with 10 points as he went a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.  First year players Eric Klinedinst '12 (York, PA -- Northeastern) and Josh Keys '14 (Bel Air, MD -- CM Wright) tried to provide a spark of the bench for Elmira as Klinedinst scored 3 points and grabbed 4 boards while Keys hit three shots for 6 points.

Elmira will be back in action this weekend as they travel to take on the Liberty League opponents Clarkson University and St. Lawrence University in back-to-back games.  EC's game against Clarkson is scheduled for Friday, December 3rd at 8:00 p.m.
